Our series on Maple Days Host Farms…Nettle Meadow Farm

Posted On: March 11th, 2019

I checked in with Sheila Flanagan recently, to see what preps are in progress for Maple Days, and what visitors should expect. It has been a crazy few weeks for Nettle Meadow, with marketing trips and shows, but plans are firming up. They will be featuring their newly-awarded cheeses at Maple Days: Sappy Ewe, a sheep milk cheese with Toad Hill maple reduction (came in first in its category at the U.S. Cheese Championships) and  Kunik and Simply Sheep came in second in their categories.  (It’s always great when the U.S. Cheese Championship announcements coincides with Maple Days Weekends, isn’t it?)

Also Nettle Meadow’s new Maple Butter, will be served March 16-17 with Irish Soda bread in honor of St. Paddy’s Day (following weeks with bread from Izzy’s Deli), and they’ve created a “Jack Wax Ice Goat Cheese Cream”  for the first weekend. Lambs and kids will be accessible for petting outside their new minibarn if the weather is not severe. They’ll also offer samples of NMF’s special Mac and cheese, along with a free recipe card.

And check this out: There are four boy baby goats almost ready to wean, up for adoption. Free to great homes.  And you already know you want to check out  the critters in Kemp Sanctuary, and perhaps make a contribution to their upkeep.
