LIBRARY! Visit the 24/7 family book box on the lawn of the Harris House, beside the road leading to Veterans’ Memorial Field. Built by volunteers, this box contains books you may take home to read. Winter fun at Veterans’ Memorial Field, weather permitting. Sled downhill. Ample parking area with footpath to top of the hill. No supervision is provided. Parents must assume responsibility for the safety and behavior of their children.

Concerts in the Park, Monday evenings in August, Veterans’ Memorial Field, 7 p.m. Free, rain/shine unless pounding deluge or dangerous lightning. Under cover. Bring a chair or blanket (or use our benches) and consider layered clothing for unpredictable evening temperatures. Nonprofit concession stand on site. Enjoy the concert and browse through information about local events and businesses. Held by the town of Thurman using Warren County occupancy taxes. 518-623-9649. THE WALKS

Walks and talks will be offered throughout the day along with a gallery of artists offering demonstrations and hands-on activities.

Following the “Letterboxing Trail” provided by Warren County Planning Department, the self-guided tree walk will bring you to a camp fire tended by owner, Gary Martin. Gary will have a yummy surprise as you join him to talk about your walk through the woods. During the scheduled mushroom walks at 10:30, 12:30 and 2:30, there will be talks about all things “mushroomy”. Discover and identify mushrooms growing in their natural habitat, discuss the edibility and medicinal value and learn other facts about these amazing fungi as you walk through the woods. Walk among the plants and “weeds” the might be growing in your own backyard.   Learn to identify and discover benefits of some you might normally discard from your cultivated gardens.

Meanwhile artisans will be set up in and around the barn with their art, demonstrations hands-on activities and free meditation sessions: 11:00 Forgiveness Meditation 1:00 love and kindness meditation 3:00 gratitude. Handmade soaps, books, greeting cards, quilted items, pottery, lotions, jewelry, candles, wood art along with vintage items and displays will be on hand. In addition to the mushroom walks, Andy LeBlanc will be back with logs to inoculate with shiitake and lions mane mushroom spawn.

Andy LeBlanc will have shiitake and lions mane mush,room spawn, offering a chance to inoculate a log or two, to take home.

 

 

 

Our friend and neighbor, Gail Seaman of Clendon Brook Creations will be with us demonstrating techniques used to create her three dimensional cards. These unique greeting cards make treasured gifts and many are framed to display for years to come.

 

 

Make a pinch pot or candle holder to take home with potter Diane Cubit, whose designs showcase her Abenaki heritage and are also heavily influenced by Adirondacks.

 

 

 

Laurie West, of Empty Nest Sud-drom is well known for her cold processed soaps along with her shampoo/conditioner bars, lotion bars, deodorant, beard/hair oil, anti-aging face elixir with hyaluronic acid, bath bombs, and lip balms.

 

 

Jim Ferris of Wax ‘n’ Wix is back. With a choice of shape, scent and color, you craft a professional- looking candle. Year round, Wax ‘n’ Wix has a shop in Lake George Village and in the Adirondack Outlet Mall.

 

 

Ed Braley, artist and seasoned forager will have art and some of his bounty here to share, including a variety of mushrooms, handcrafted salts, seasonings, extracts and tinctures. Ed will also be leading the Mushroom Walks at 10:30. 12:30 and 2:30.  Plan your day to be sure to catch at least one of Ed’s Walks.

 

 

Author, Persis Granger will be offering signed copies of her well-loved series including “Adirondack Gold” and a “Summer of Strangers”.  Perky will also offer a chance to make a “fire brick” from newspaper and sawdust to bring home.

 

 

Hand sewn quilted items by Avis Russell will include runners, placemats and wall hangings, all hand- sewn.

 

 

 

Wood carver, Ken Raisner will be here with his true-to-life songbirds along with rustic American flags and other wood related items.

 

 

 

Yoga in the Adirondacks will have essential oil samples and encourage participants to stop by with their children to pick out a free item from their treasure box. Shop for their the Divine Acres Maple Syrup, Rhodessence Essential oil products and sign up for a free meditation session, 11:00 Forgiveness Meditation 1:00 love and kindness meditation 3:00 gratitude meditation.

 

 

Rachel Guyett “re-seats” chairs.  She offers a caning demonstration and will have chairs to show examples of her splint and rush seats.

 

 

 

Artist, Claudia Wheeler of Wolf Pond Beaded Jewelry will have be joining us this year.

 

 

 

 

Laurie Clark works with a variety of stones along with copper and sterling. She will be offering  a selection of her earings and necklaces.
