LIBRARY! Visit the 24/7 family book box on the lawn of the Harris House, beside the road leading to Veterans’ Memorial Field. Built by volunteers, this box contains books you may take home to read. Winter fun at Veterans’ Memorial Field, weather permitting. Sled downhill. Ample parking area with footpath to top of the hill. No supervision is provided. Parents must assume responsibility for the safety and behavior of their children.
Concerts in the Park, Mondays, July 15 through August 19, Veterans’ Memorial Field, 7 p.m. Free, rain/shine unless pounding deluge or dangerous lightning. Under cover. Bring a chair or blanket (or use our benches) and consider layered clothing for unpredictable evening temperatures. Nonprofit concession stand on site. Enjoy the concert and browse through information about local events and businesses. Held by the town of Thurman using Warren County occupancy taxes. 518-623-9649. Gently used items will be collected at the Thurman town hall, 311 Athol Rd., Athol, on Saturday, September 21 from 11am-4pm. Shopping day will be Sunday, September 22 from 11am-4pm, with all goods free for the taking. Nothing in your house to donate? Not to worry– come shop on Sunday anyway! Contact us if you need to make special arrangements to deliver your goods at another time. Start dusting off and boxing up those things deserving a second life that someone else would be happy to have. Clothing, toys, books, small appliances, household items, sporting goods and tools will all be welcomed and sorted for those wishing to keep good stuff out of landfills. Items must be clean and large appliances, encyclopedias, electronics and furniture will not be accepted but photos with contact information will be welcomed and displayed.
