LIBRARY! Visit the 24/7 family book box on the lawn of the Harris House, beside the road leading to Veterans’ Memorial Field. Built by volunteers, this box contains books you may take home to read. Winter fun at Veterans’ Memorial Field, weather permitting. Sled downhill. Ample parking area with footpath to top of the hill. No supervision is provided. Parents must assume responsibility for the safety and behavior of their children.
Concerts in the Park, Monday evenings in August, Veterans’ Memorial Field, 7 p.m. Free, rain/shine unless pounding deluge or dangerous lightning. Under cover. Bring a chair or blanket (or use our benches) and consider layered clothing for unpredictable evening temperatures. Nonprofit concession stand on site. Enjoy the concert and browse through information about local events and businesses. Held by the town of Thurman using Warren County occupancy taxes. 518-623-9649. Don’t miss these free summer concerts under cover, 7-9 p.m. at Veterans’ Memorial Field, on the hill behind Thurman Town Hall, 311 Athol Rd., Athol, NY 12810. Sit on our benches or bring your own comfy lawn chair. Concession stand expected. Dress in layers to be prepared for fickle Adirondack weather.
July 11 – New Whiskey River Band: classic country band playing hits from Alan Jackson, Merle Haggard, Dwight Yoakam
July 18 – Hoddy Ovitt and the Warren County Ramblers, Traditional bountry and Bluegrass
July 24 – Big Fez and the Surfmatics – 4-man group performing classic surf and beach music from the early 1960’s.
August 1 – Thurman’s own Gary Gazaille with The Panther Mountain Band
August 8 – Stony Creek Band – a high-energy blend of rock, folk, country and bluegrass
August 15 – Red Haired Strangers – Country. Blues and Grass
August 22 -City Limits – Playing swing-funk-blues rock that puts rhythm in your feety and groove in your soul!
August 29 – The Lustre Kings – classic pop standards, beautiful ballads and light jazz, in addition to its trademark American roots rock music.
